Weekly Classes

Our weekly group classes are run by head coach Raphael Scott, who brings his professional fighting expertise and relaxed demeanour. 

Each class runs for 60 minutes with a maximum of 20 people.

Focus on improving cardio, building strength and endurance specific to MMA

striking

Striking classes are completely dedicated to striking. This class covers the fundamentals and goes through striking techniques for either punching or kicking depending on the day. This class is great for beginners learning and more experienced participants wanting to really hone their technique.

grappling

A large part of MMA and self defence is grappling. We teach a mixture of Brazilian jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), wrestling and judo. We mainly focus on BJJ and even have classes completely dedicated to the art. Our grappling classes take you through an extensive warm up followed by specific techniques, and drilling. Once you understand the basics you’re able to participate in live “rolls” where you can test and execute your newly learnt skills.

MMA striking

MMA striking is different to other striking disciplines, in that it borrows the core striking fundamentals from other disciplines but combines them in a way to suit the situation. We teach all aspects of strikes from punches, kicks, knees and elbows and add clinching and grappling into the mix. Our focus isn’t on teaching a specific style but more on developing individuals to find their style depending on their skills and body type.

MMA Grappling

MMA grappling is much the same as grappling but we add strikes and wall/cage techniques. This is a great way to learn how to control people in a cage fight or even self defence. Suited to all levels.

sparring

This time is allocated to those looking to test their skills against other willing members. Sparring is very controlled and a great way to develop your style and test what you’ve learnt in a safe environment. Build confidence at RailsMMA so you're confident when the time comes.

strength & conditioning

These classes are specifically tailored to strengthen muscles and joints that get used regularly during MMA. Strengthening your body helps longevity in sport and in day to day life.

Brazilian Jiu-jitsu aka BJJ

In this class we teach the art of BJJ, a self defence system of techniques focused on controlling opponents/attackers and submissions like chokes and joint manipulation. In this class you'll learn effective techniques that could literally save your life.

The class consists of specific warm ups suited to BJJ followed by learning techniques through demonstrations and drilling followed by live sparring aka "rolling" to apply the techniques just learned.

This class is suited for you if you want to learn an effective way to defend yourself, get in great physical shape, learn something new and build confidence that will translate in day to day life.

1 on 1 sessions

Our 1 on 1 sessions are run by head trainer, professional fighter and RailsMMA owner, Raphael Scott. During the 1 on 1 session, he’ll take you through a personalised approach to pad sessions, MMA, and progress and development.
